dimensional knitting

I have had an image in my head that I wished to execute in my knitting and it has taken me 3 days to get to grips with the correct dimensions and shapings and mesh stitch for my cowl.Working on the premise thatI want the stitches to knit vertical not slant too much but have the notion if you prevent the spread whilst you increase at the centre stitch to your panel then the centre will protrude.

When you look at my initial attempts it is getting there but not what I wanted really
